This website has 3D animated plant and cells. You click on each part of the cell and it "breaks out" to so that part in more detail and then gives the function. Many of the other websites below are through universities and have beautiful images--but they aren't written for 5th graders. This one is!
This website is from the Genetics Dept. at U. of Utah. You can click on "make the cell membrane transparent" to see all the organelles. This scroll over each organelle and the name is spoken. Good for Smartboards
Website with directions for students to make a model of a cell with common items like jellybeans or pipe cleaners. Includes a scoring rubric. This could be integrated into a lesson or be a project students in class or at home. Has good pictures of example student models.
This website has dozens of downloadable images that you can view just like you were using a real microscope. This is a scientific project through Beckman so the images are beautiful. The process of downloading is LONG and then EACH image must be downloaded separately. This is NOT a last minute thing you can do. You will be asked to make sure you have the latest Java update. Be sure you do that.
This website allows you to drag the organelle name to its function. Some organelles are not normally taught at this level but overall, this could be used for the Smartboard.
